BANGOR 5-0 MOYOLA PARK

Carnegie First Division
Match Report by Neil Watson
Saturday 29th April 2006
Bangor finished their season in style with
a convincing 5-goal victory over struggling Moyola Park.
Kenny Camlin was the Bangor hero as he recorded his first
hat-trick for the club to finish his injury and suspension
hit season with 7 goals.
It took only 4 minutes for Bangor to score
their first goal. Jim McCloskey floated his 30-yard free
kick towards the penalty spot where Kenny Camlin rose to
head the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Bangor could have extended their lead minutes
later but where thwarted by Symon Ferguson in the Moyola
goals. It was David Officer who was denied first from 10
yards before Jim McCloskey’s dipping 25-yard effort
was acrobatically pushed over the bar by Ferguson.
Bangor scored their second goal of the game
from the penalty spot after 20 minutes. Andy Morrow collected
Brian Russell’s defence splitting pass before being
cynically chopped down in the area by Ferguson who was booked.
Cullen Feeney struck the ball high into the net to claim
his 7th goal of the season.
Ryan Brown had to produce a breath taking
save to keep out a Simon Logan header after 30 minutes.
Logan met Stevenson’s cross from the right but his
headed effort was somehow pushed round the post by a stretching
Brown.
It was Brown again who denied Moyola from
scoring, this time from the penalty spot after Cullen Feeney
was booked for a trip on Brian Maybin. Brown dived to his
left to block Stevenson’s penalty before stretching
out a foot to save Larkin’s follow-up effort.
Bangor’s third goal of the game arrived
after 41 minutes through Jim McCloskey. A long Jackie Kerr
throw from the left was held up well by Andy Morrow before
flicking the ball through to Officer. From the by-line,
Officer chipped the ball across goal for McCloskey to hammer
home.
McCloskey could have added a further goal
a minute later but he headed Kerr’s deep cross from
the left back across goal and just wide of the post.
Half time: 3 – 0
Moyola Park threatened to hit back as they
mounted a series of attacks on the Bangor goal. After 51
minutes, Jason Stevenson forced Ryan Brown into a smart
save as he held onto the forward’s attempted lob from
18 yards.
Having fended off the visitors’ attacks,
Bangor regained control of the match and struck their 4th
goal after 79 minutes. Brian Russell neatly flicked the
ball over the Moyola defence allowing Kenny Camlin to advance
on goal. As Ferguson advanced, Camlin delicately lobbed
the ball over the ‘keeper and into the goal.
The visitors again could have scored on 81
minutes, but were denied by a goal line clearance by Cullen
Feeney. Gavin Burnside collected Lynn’s pass but as
the forward shot towards the open goal, Feeney somehow got
across to clear the ball to safety.
Kenny Camlin scored his third goal of the
game with 5 minutes remaining. Andy Morrow beat the offside
trap before advancing towards the Moyola goal from the right.
Morrow’s low shot was blocked by Ferguson, but the
impressive Camlin was on hand to tap the ball home.
