On Friday 8th August 2003, a team of Bangor supporters took on a team of Ards supporters on the
Clandeboye Park pitch prior to the North Down Cup Final. Both teams agreed to sponsor a player from
their respective clubs for the forthcoming season.
The 30 minute match was played in blistering
heat. Ards scored midway through the first half after the
Bangor defence had failed to clear their lines.
However the Bangor team hit
back within minutes to give a half-time scoreline of 1-1.
Bangor came out strongly in the second half
and scored three times as the legs on both sides began to
tire. Matt, Andy(2) and Darran were the Bangor goalscorers.
An enjoyable match played in a sporting
manner..It is now hoped that this fixture will become an
annual event.
